Tim Powers is an American author who specializes in secret history novels in which historical events are reinterpreted as occult conflicts. The Anubis Gates and On Stranger Tides are among the finest genre novels of the 1980s and have been enormously influential. On Stranger Tides became the basis for a Pirates of the Caribbean film.
