Wole Soyinka

Nigeria's Nobel Prize-winning playwright who synthesized Yoruba ritual theater with Western dramatic traditions to create a uniquely African modernism. He was imprisoned during the Biafran War for his political activities. Death and the King's Horseman is his masterpiece.
