Arthur Conan Doyle
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle created Sherlock Holmes, the most famous fictional detective in literary history. His stories defined the template for the logical, deductive detective story and remain enormously popular worldwide. He also wrote historical novels and science fiction, but Holmes secured his lasting legacy.
