Charles de Lint is a Dutch-Canadian author who essentially created contemporary urban fantasy as a literary subgenre through his Newford stories, which blend Celtic folklore with North American settings and marginalized communities. His work is infused with music, art, and a deep respect for indigenous cultures. He has won multiple World Fantasy and Aurora Awards.
