Don Winslow
Don Winslow is an American crime writer whose Power of the Dog trilogy charted the rise of the Mexican drug cartels with the epic sweep of historical fiction. His earlier Neal Carey series showed a lighter touch, but his mature work achieved the moral seriousness of the best crime literature. The Cartel was compared to The Wire as a definitive portrait of the American drug war.
