Greg Egan is an Australian science fiction author known for some of the most mathematically and philosophically rigorous hard science fiction ever written. Permutation City and Diaspora explore the nature of consciousness, identity, and post-biological existence with startling depth. He is widely regarded as the most technically demanding author in the genre.
