Hillary Waugh
Hillary Waugh is credited with creating the modern police procedural novel with his groundbreaking Last Seen Wearing, which reconstructed a real murder investigation with documentary precision. His method of depicting police work as unglamorous, collective, and methodical was radically different from the fictional detective tradition that preceded it. He received the Mystery Writers of America Grand Master Award.
