Kishwar Desai is an Indian journalist and crime writer whose Simran Singh social worker investigator series deals with issues of female exploitation, gender violence, and social inequality in contemporary India. Her debut Witness the Night was a major critical success and won the Costa First Novel Award. Her work is explicitly feminist and politically engaged.
