Cuban-American novelist who became the first Latino author to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, for The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love. His work celebrates the immigrant experience with exuberant nostalgia and emotional depth. He was a pioneering figure in Latino-American literature.
