Peter S. Beagle is an American fantasy author whose The Last Unicorn is one of the most beloved fantasy novels of the twentieth century. His lyrical prose, elegiac tone, and deep love of nature and music give his work a distinctive quality. He also wrote the screenplay for the 1977 Lord of the Rings animated film.
