Sergio Pitol

Mexican novelist, translator, and diplomat whose carnivalesque fiction defied literary conventions. The Trilogy of Memory won the Cervantes Prize; his work introduced the fiction of Chekhov, Woolf, and Conrad to Spanish-language readers.
