Victoria Holt
Victoria Holt was one of the pen names of Eleanor Hibbert, who also wrote as Philippa Carr and Jean Plaidy, making her one of the most prolific novelists of the 20th century. Her gothic romances in the du Maurier tradition sold tens of millions of copies and dominated bestseller lists for decades. Mistress of Mellyn essentially created the modern Gothic romance.
