Donald E. Westlake was one of the most inventive and versatile American crime writers of the 20th century, creating both the darkly comic Dortmunder gang series and, under the name Richard Stark, the uncompromising Parker crime novels. He was a three-time Edgar Award winner and received the Mystery Writers of America Grand Master Award. His range and productivity were extraordinary.
