J.G. Ballard was a British author whose apocalyptic and psychologically intense science fiction explored the intersection of technology, violence, and desire in contemporary society. The Drowned World and Crash are among his most celebrated works. His autobiographical novel Empire of the Sun brought him mainstream literary recognition.
