John Dickson Carr
John Dickson Carr was the undisputed master of the impossible crime and locked-room mystery, the most technically brilliant puzzle-constructor in the history of detective fiction. Writing also as Carter Dickson, he produced scores of novels featuring Dr. Gideon Fell and Sir Henry Merrivale. He is the only American elected to the British Detection Club in its original membership.
