The greatest philosopher-theologian of the medieval period, Aquinas synthesized Aristotle with Christian theology in a systematic philosophy that remains the official philosophy of the Catholic Church. The Summa Theologica is one of the most ambitious intellectual projects in human history. He is called the Angelic Doctor.
