Robin McKinley is an American fantasy author known for her feminist retellings of classic fairy tales and her richly realized secondary worlds. The Blue Sword and The Hero and the Crown won the Newbery Medal and its honor award respectively. Her novel Beauty was the first modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast.
